Meals

How Much And How Often?

The total amount of food required daily will be between 1.5% to 10% of their body weight fed as two, three or four meals depending on their life stage, activity and individual requirement.

  • More food should be given to younger, smaller underweight, highly active or growing pups (about 8%-10% of their body weight)

  • Less food should be given to older, sedentary pets and large breed pups (no more than 3% of their body weight to as low as 1.5% of their body weight)

There is no one answer to this question. I would suggest to start with the above guidelines, adjust and fine-tune based on how your dog is looking. If he’s looking like he’s loosing weight increase the amount and vice versa. There’s no real science to it, it’s just about going for it. No harm will be done during this process of “figuring things out” as each dog will have different requirements.

For my own dogs, I find that I am feediing them anywhere from 1.5% -2% of their body weight  which equates  to            16 - 20 oz. per day. I regularly make adjsutments as these quantites are not set in stone.

Sample Meals

Remember not to get fixated on making sure your dog is fed a completely balanced diet every single day…it really is about the overall complete diet over a long period.

Day One Monday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

  • PM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

Day Two Tuesday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken & Vegetable/Fruit Mix

  • PM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken & Vegetable/Fruit Mix

Day Three Wednesday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

  • PM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

Day Four Thursday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken & Vegetable/Fruit Mix

  • PM Red Meat. Organs & RMB

Day Five Friday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

  • PM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken

Day Six Saturday

  • AM Raw Meaty Bones (RMB) Chicken & Vegetable/Fruit Mix

  • PM Red Meat. Organs & RMB

Day Seven Sunday

  • AM Raw unbleached tripe, RMB

  • PM Raw unbleached tripe, RMB

When introducing new ingredients, do it slowly in order not to upset your dog’s tummy. The more organ meat and veggie/fruit mix is fed per meal, the softer the stool. I like adding RMB to each of the meals so that I can maintain a certain semi-hard consistency to their stool. You are in full control!

On those days of only feeding RMB, their stool will be small and hard resembling chicken nuggets; in addition these nuggets will help express their anal glands. On this raw diet your dog will never scoot across your floors ever again.

You will immediately notice a remarkable reduction in the amount of stool you’ll need to pick-up. This diet is the most digestible and highly absorbable so very little goes to waste.

Within time it gets easier, you’ll be more relaxed and will have tremendous PRIDE in knowing that you are making the best diet decision for your beloved companion. Good Luck and have fun!
